Jesus the Good Shepherd - Founding Rector (Pastor)
I was raised in Southern Nevada, proud to be a second generation native in a historically transient locale. I attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and returned to complete a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2000.
Two weeks after defending my master's thesis, I met Erin at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) and fell in love! I completed a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) residency year at the McFarland Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana. In that residency year, I served as a chaplain with the New Orleans Police Department and their Mobile Psychiatric Crisis Unit. Erin and I were married at All Saints, Palo Alto and I graduated with an M.Div. the following year.
I was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John-David Schofield in October of 2005. After serving three wonderful churches in the Central Valley of California, the Lord called us to Southern Nevada to found Jesus the Good Shepherd.
With five wonderful children, a beautiful wife, and the support of family and friends, I am blessed to serve this unique Christian community.
Mental Health Counselor, Division of Child and Family Services
As with many clergy, church planting requires me to be bi-vocational, and the Lord blessed me with the opportunity to serve the children and family of Southern Nevada as a mental health counselor. I Assess the strengths and mental health needs of youths, ages birth to 18, create initial and ongoing case conceptualization and make diagnoses. I provide talk therapy, often utilizing solution focused and play therapy, depending on the needs of the client, and I provide case management.
In Child Care Consultation, I provide observations of children in daycare and preschool settings and consult with families and staff to find ways for the child to be more successful and to suggest community resources to address a child's needs.
I am also a Topic Trainer with the Nevada Registry, providing training across the Las Vegas Valley.
